RULES AND REGULATIONS
Please read carefully the Rules and Regulations below. You must accept the conditions in order to register for the event.
Participants with intellectual disabilities or under 21 years old on race day must seek parental/guardian’s consent to register for the event.
A. General
1) The Organisers reserve the right to use any photographs, motion picture, recordings, or anyother record of this race and its participants for any legitimate purpose. 2) On-site reporting and body-marking will start at least an hour before the commencement of the race and participants shall place their bicycles at the designated location in the transition area. The bicycles are to be arranged according to the allocated numbers. All participants shall be ready 15 minutes prior to the start of the Swim. 3) Latecomers should be aware that their timings would have commenced when the race begins. 4) Participants with diabetes in the individual category are required to do a blood check before the race, and after the cycling segment. Although advice will be given, the Organisers will not be responsible for the participants’ decisions regarding the blood check. An estimated time taken for the blood check after the cycling segment will be deducted from the final time clocked for people with diabetes. 5) Participants are to follow instructions given by the road marshals or race officials.
B. Race Entry
1) A relay team must include one participant from the special needs community (with hearing impairment, diabetes or intellectual disabilities). The Organisers reserve the right to assign any person with special needs to any relay team, if required. 2) Participants must be at least 12 years old on 1 January 2007. 3) On-the-spot entries will not be accepted. 4) The Organisers reserve the right to limit and refuse entries. 5) The Organisers will not be responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete and/or incorrect entry details given by the participants. 6) Persons with special needs may be required to provide further medical information, as Organisers deem necessary. 7) Once the registration form has been processed, there will be no fee refund for those participants who, for whatever reason, eventually do not take part. 8) There will be no fee refund if the event is cancelled for whatever reason. 9) The Organisers reserve the right to cancel the Novice Relay or Open Relay if there are less than 6 teams registered for the category. 10) Registration confirmation and race updates will be emailed or sent by post to participants. 11) Briefing notes will be emailed or sent by post to all participants about one week before the race day. Participants can also download the Briefing notes from www.specialtri.com about one week before the race day, containing essential race updates.
C. Swimming
1) Swimsuits must be worn. 2) Swim goggles may be worn. 3) Fins, paddles, pool buoys, snorkels or any other swimming aids are not allowed. 4) Wet suits are not allowed. 5) Support crews are not allowed. Any assistance received during the swim will result in immediate disqualification. 6) No persons other than the participants and officials are permitted in the swimming area. 7) Swimmers in difficulty shall signal for assistance.
D. Cycling
1) Cyclists must ensure that their competition numbers are clearly visible at the back of their adorned apparel at all times. 2) No bare torso is allowed at all times. 3) The bicycle number tag must be properly secured on the LEFT seat-stay OR chain-stay triangle near the rear wheel of the bicycle. 4) A participant may run or walk with his bicycle. 5) Cyclists are to keep to the left side of the road and are reminded to observe traffic rules at all times. 6) All participants will have to perform their own repairs if their bicycles should breakdown. Changing of bicycles is only permitted at designated point(s). 7) Support vehicles and crews are not permitted. 8) All cyclists must wear helmets approved by the following recognised testing authorities: American National Standard Institute (ANSIZ-90.4), Snell Memorial Foundation & National Swedish Board of Consumer Policy. 9) The helmet must stay on the cyclist’s head until he/she has placed his/her bicycle securely at the allocated spot on the bicycle rack. 10) All participants are encouraged to have their bicycles inspected by professional bicycle shops before the race. It is the participants’ responsibility to ensure that their bicycles and bicycle brakes are in good working condition. 11) No drafting is allowed.
E. Running
1) Runners must wear their race numbers clearly visible at the front of their adorned apparel at all times. 2) Support vehicles or pacers are not allowed. 3) Runners must run on the designated path for the entire route. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. 4) No running with bare torso.
F. Inclement weather
1) In the event of inclement weather, the Organisers reserve the right to delay the commencement of the race. 2) Should the inclement weather persist after delay, the Organisers reserve the right to cancel the race without any refund of registration fees already paid.
G. The Organisers reserve the right to amend any part of the above rules and regulations without assigning any reason thereof.
